Trunk Show with Perlie Petrillo

My birth name is Phyllis, but I go by a fun nickname: Perlie.  It was given to me by my future husband shortly after we met through his personal ad (26 years ago) !  I even have a quilt with his ad in it !    I have been an art quilter for many years.  I have two passions, one is creating an essence of a person or place through fabric.  My goal is to relay a story to the audience.  My second passion is creating fabric with textile Surface Design techniques.  I love dying (Procyon MX dyes), overdying, shibori, cyanotype, eco-dying, rust dying, and creating gel prints on fabric.  And I have quilts to demonstrate these techniques.     I am an active member in Surface Design as well as an active POD leader in Studio Quilt Association and  Chair several major events in this organization.  I am an active member of many artist groups in Broward Art Gallery (Ft. Lauderdale), South Florida Fiber Group (in Palm Beach), Melbourne Dirty Dozen Artist Group, and my favorite, Palm Beach Modern Quilt Guild because of the great leadership and people !    I have participated in multiple art shows, and have won awards at State and National levels.  I was featured in Fiber Art Museum, in the IOWA Museum of Art, and was awarded Best in Show in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  I also had a solo show with the Broward Gallery in Ft. Lauderdale. Recently, I had a piece into the Sacred Threads Exhibit in Houston !  I’m also in a current show at the Center of Spiritual Care in Vero Beach.     I hope you enjoy my presentation as much as I love presenting my work to you !!
